MORE SEQUELS!! I don't know how I feel about this. I loved the first one, which might partially be due to the fact that I was a kid and anything with big, loud, action, was awesome. AND IT HAD DINOSAURS! It might have also helped that the screenplay was written by Michael Crichton, who wrote the book, and was directed by THE Steven Spielberg. The second one wasn't too bad, still written by Crichton and helmed by Spielberg. The last one I didn't really like, written by Crichton but directed by Joe Johnston, not Spielberg.
Boxoffice caught up with Johnston to ask him about the rumored fourth film. Johnston mentions that there is, in fact, a Jurassic Park IV, "and its going to be unlike anything you've seen." Really? I am interested, this might be what they need. The third film seemed to go bland, just regurgitating what had come before it. He goes on to say that there could be a whole new trilogy of Jurassic films based on this one, a "Second Trilogy."
It sounds like they might have their heads on straight this time to, Johnston says, "We don't want to make sequel after sequel just because there's a market for it. We want to tell different, interesting stories. You don't just want to sell hamburger." Sounds great!
It sounds like Hollywood is breaking from its mantra of sequels. Some sequels are good, but will this one stand up? What do you think?
