Can Anyone Beat "Avatar"?

by Ryan

According to boxoffice.com, Avatar is entering its 25th day at #1 with over $445 million in total gross. It seems that nothing can stop it, especially with the long MLK Jr. weekend coming up. Those who have somehow missed Avatar or have been putting it off, have some extra time to get out and see what everyone is making a big deal about. This weekend is looking real good for Avatar to catch up to Titanic's all-time box ooffice record.

The next closest films are Sherlock Holmes and It's Complicated, but they aren't even close. Recent release Daybreakers cracked the top 5 and Youth in Revolt barely cracked the top 10. There are two wide release films coming out this weekend: The Book of Eli and The Spy Next Door. Which means the only hope for knocking Avatar off the throne lies with Denzel Washington and his post apocolyptic ass-kicking. Somehow I dont think that will do it, and if The Spy Next Door does it . . . our society is in a sad state of affairs.

Any thoughts? What movie do you think will finally remove Avatar from the top spot?
